The head office for Dr MacLeods and Dr Tim’s Success, leading brands in the special purpose food sector of the Australian Food Industry is located right here on the Sunshine Coast.
And yes, these products have been inspired by a real doctor - the Sunshine Coast’s own, Dr Timothy MacLeod Orchard. Dr Orchard spent 17 years helping people with weight related health conditions. He pioneered a range of highly effective ‘special purpose foods’ which are widely used by doctors and dietitians in hospital environments branded under the name Dr MacLeods and a weight loss program branded Dr Tim’s Success which is delivered through pharmacies.
The latter was launched into a large and aggressive weight loss market in 2005, which in Australia for the meal replacement sector alone was worth around $80 million per year. Dr Tim’s Success program is modelled on Dr Orchard’s own experiences supporting his patients’ weight loss progress and it is this support model combined with his qualified medical status that continues to set Dr Tim’s Success apart from the competition.
A trial of Dr Tim’s Success conducted in Queensland and NSW pharmacies soon won the backing of a major pharmacy chain - an event that created an astounding 800% growth for Success Foods over an astonishing 9 month period.
What could have become an out of control rollercoaster ride was contained thanks to the innate good sense and clear thinking of the business owners and the professionals who were invited to join their advisory team - Ashley McGuirk from Core Business was among them. Core Business provides accounting services, advice and professional referrals – the kind of introductions that link clients with key people for the achievement of business goals.
Perhaps more importantly for Dr MacLeods and Success Foods, Core Business plays what may best be described as a professional mentoring role.
